About Ryan Schaap

Ryan Schaap is the lead craftsman at Big Ocean Marine. He was born and raised in Michigan where he spent summers on Lake Michigan with his family. From a young age, Ryan began to restore classic wood vessels with his father and developed a passion for boats that would stay with him through the years. Ryan graduated from Michigan State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management.  He worked for over fifteen years as a craftsman and a project manager prior to launching Big Ocean Marine.
