55’ Fleming Motor Yacht
This 55’ Fleming motor yacht was in need of repairs after damage caused due to leaking galley windows. The boat had incurred substantial damage to the saloon sole causing the structural beam underneath to fail. In order to gain adequate access, we had to demo the saloon settee. This project involved not only cosmetic but also structural boat repairs. The ceiling paneling in the engine room had been damaged due to water intrusion . After gaining access to the structural beams under the floor, we scarfed and sistered new material out of white oak.
A new subfloor was installed out of marine plywood and everything was then scarfed and fiberglassed.
The cabin sole was then remade utilizing ¼” thick solid teak and hard maple. A new floor was glued into place with thickened epoxy. The settee was rebuilt and reinstalled. The engine room ceiling panel was replaced with new galvanized perforated panel.
In order to match the existing finish, we then applied 8 coats of varnish using single part epifanes.
The entire cabin sole was refinished with 3 maintenance coats of epifanes including a final coat of rubbed effect epifanes varnish to obtain maximal visual appeal.
