Gozzard 36

This Gozzard 36 has served her owner well for many years. It is a beautiful vessel with an incredible amount of teak and mahogany throughout. The cockpit railings had been damaged substantially and were in desperate need of replacement.  The Starboard rail was completely missing.  Only the port side railing remained and we were able to use this as a pattern to create both new railings. The owner requested the new transom railings to be located further aft so the stays would no longer conflict with the stern railings.  This created some complexity in recreating the original fit and aesthetic.  Since much of the railings and trim were gone, it required a lot of test fitting and patterns to recreate the original design.

The spindle bases unique to Gozzard were carefully crafted out of marine teak and turned on the lathe to replicate the originals. The interior of the boat was also in need of some refit and repair.  A new cabin sole was created out of shop sawn teak and hard maple.  As of writing this blog post this project is entering the finishing stage.  The rails will be high gloss Awlgrip Awlwood. The interior will be finished in single part Epiphanes Rubbed Effect (satin) varnish. More to come in the next post.
